Town of Penhold Enters Phase 2 of Re-Launch

The Town of Penhold 'is back in business' as of June 22nd as the Penhold Multiplex re-opened it's doors to the public after being closed due to COVID-19.


CAO Rick Binnendyk briefed council on Monday on the changes too protocols within the facility as well as other facilities throughout town such as the splash park.


"The fitness area (in the multiplex) was open and running this morning, with different protocols in place," he continued, adding that the Town and it's staff have to do things quite a bit different for the next little while and because of new cleaning guidelines set forth by the Province, the Town has incurred a few added costs but that was to be expected.


The library is running on modified hours and the Summer Fun program this year, instead the Town has contributed extra funds to the Library's Summer Programming.  


The Penhold RV Park is open at full operation. Safety precautions will continue as per the province of Alberta. These precautions are in effect to protect the health and safety of staff and campers.

  • The wash house is now open to the public and will be cleaned and sanitized twice daily. 

  • Social distancing is to continue. Campers are prohibited from visiting other sites.

  •  Only one camping unit per site. 

  • Group camping is prohibited. 

  • Tent camping is now allowed.

  •  Do not enter the RV Park if you are feeling unwell. 

  • Further updates will be posted to the website are they are received.


The Splash Park at Lincoln Street Rec and the Penhold Multiplex Arena will open again on July 2.

Binnendyk assured council that they would be constantly checking in with Alberta Health Services and moving ahead as advised.
